Nicks cafe is the place for breakfast, if you're coming here on the weekend expect a wait time because they get busy. The service is fast and the food is amazing. Very delicious and they have great specials and seasonal items always. I enjoy the old school dinner setting they have, you don't really see anymore. Definitely come check it out sometime if you're in the area.

It's Monday. It's President's Day. We figured traffic will be light, so we decide to make the drive down to DTLA from the valley to visit Nick's. It did not disappoint. Parking lot is small but we got lucky and found a spot right away. When we got there, there was a bit of a wait. But we only waited maybe 10 minutes to be seated inside. FYI, Inside is bar seating only. We were a party of three. We didn't mind at all. Right away we were greeted by our server. She was awesome! You could tell she's been doing this for a long time and you can tell she loves what she does. Since it was our first time we asked her what she recommended. She guided Us to the second page. She also recommended the biscuits and The house jam. Wow!!! First off, those biscuits were fantastic! They were big. They were soft and toasted on one side. I've never had a biscuit this way. She also brought us a side of their house jam. I'm getting this every time we come back. We ordered the Sonora chilaquiles, the Mexicali red chilaquiles and the machaca plate. My friends and I almost licked the plate clean. Our server came back several times to check on us and refill our coffees and water. I really wish I would have caught her name. She was a doll!! It is a little pricey but it is worth every Penny.

Wanted to try for a long time, it always have a huge line! Today isnt too bad, only 20 minutes of wait, and we are lucky to get a parking spot on site... It's a very old style diner, but very cozy... The food is fine, a bit "not hot" when they serve it, the salsa is good, so is the omelette.

Parking is ok surprisingly for the area. Super tiny restaurant, but they do their best to move people quickly and seat people outside as well. Only have counter seating inside. Friendly helpful staff. Large menu, lots of options, large portions, great flavor. Fair prices, and highly recommend. Will return.

So I love Nick's cafe! It's right across the street from my favorite park. I go here with family on the weekends when I have a day off! I like sitting inside of the bar because I'm usually a little chilly. For food, we love the fact that we could have lunch for breakfast! I love corned beef hash so that usually is my go to but today I try them Machaca and I highly recommend it. The service is great because you were right there at the counter and there were three people working it taken care of us. I don't really have any food limitations or preferences. I just like yummy. It's old-fashioned style and I always feel at home when I eat there. I always have great specials and new things to try. They also have a lot of great classic breakfast dishes.
